Read the handover requirements first
Before you buy a move-out cleaning service, gather the landlord’s or property manager’s written instructions. The required condition, key return process and move-out date may appear in different places. Ask for clarification if an instruction is ambiguous. A cleaning company can address an agreed checklist; it cannot decide whether you have satisfied every part of a lease.
Texas’ Attorney General provides renter guidance and notes that a forwarding address is needed for return of a security deposit. The Texas State Law Library has more detailed information about deposit refunds and deductions. Use those official resources for legal questions rather than treating a cleaning advertisement as a statement of your rights. No cleaning service can guarantee your deposit outcome. [1][2]
Schedule around an actually empty property
A move-out clean is easier to scope when furniture, packed boxes and loose possessions have been removed. Give the cleaner a realistic access window after the movers finish, and leave time before the final handover to review the completed work. If movers may run late, discuss the scheduling policy in advance instead of assuming the cleaner can wait indefinitely.
Confirm that water, electricity and appropriate access will be available for the agreed tasks. Describe stairs, parking restrictions, loading rules and elevator reservations. Apartment access can take meaningful time even when the property itself is small. Share these logistics during the quote process, without placing door codes, alarm information or other access credentials in a public inquiry.
Write down room tasks and separate extras
For the kitchen, ask whether the proposed work covers counters, sink, appliance exteriors and floors. Then separately confirm the oven, refrigerator and empty cabinet interiors if those are required. Tell the provider whether appliances will be empty and ready to access. Do not assume food removal, hauling or repairs come with cleaning.
For bathrooms, list toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, mirrors and floors. For other rooms, identify reachable surfaces, closets and floor care. Interior windows, blinds, wall marks and baseboards should be discussed explicitly. Photograph unusual conditions before the visit and disclose heavy buildup or damage; a cleaner should not be expected to repair wear, broken fittings or stains outside the agreed service.
Keep a handover record
Review the property against the written checklist while there is still time to raise a missed task. Save the scope, receipt and your own dated photos for your records. Check that possessions and keys are handled according to the property manager’s process. Documentation is useful, but it does not change the lease or promise that every charge will be waived.
NexWorks accepts move-in and move-out cleaning inquiries across its Texas target markets, with actual coverage, team capacity and price confirmed individually. A preferred date is a request, not a reservation. Send the ZIP, approximate size, move-out timing and required tasks so the proposed work can be reviewed. For a dispute about a lease or deposit, consult the official renter resources and qualified advice rather than relying on the cleaning proposal.
Keep proof of completion organized
Save the accepted cleaning checklist and any dated completion photos with your own move records. If several people are moving out, name the person responsible for the final walkthrough and key handoff so those tasks are not assumed to belong to someone else. Cleaning documentation can show what was requested and completed; it does not settle unrelated damage, rent, lease duties, or a disagreement about a security deposit.
